Course Details
Riders, This is a 1 day Introduction to Mountain Biking Fundamentals course (Dates for 2026: April 18th, June 13 th, June 27th, or July 11th)
Time: Arrive at 8:30 am to sign in and ready for a prompt 9 am start; the class will end at 2 pm
Location: Spokane Area. Location listed in event calendar writeup, visible with member login.
Sign up required on club event calendar. (member log in required)
Cost: The class will cost $50; Please bring cash
1. Discuss Three Essentials
- Pedals Level and equally weighted
- Index finger covering the brakes at all times
- Eyes scanning ahead
2. Riding Position - Tall Ready, Low Ready
3. Bike Body Separation - Fore and Aft, Side to Side
4. Braking - including foot position
5. Cornering - techniques to make you safer and faster
6. Rock Dodge
7. Ride small Circle
8. Ride Tight Switch Back
9. Ratcheting , Track Stand, Race, Ratchet into Log
10. Front Wheel Lift
11. Manual infused Front wheel lift
12. Hopping - Brakes on hopping - Hopping front wheel left and Right
- Discuss the foot wedge
13. Move to location to Practice Climbing, Descending and Corning
14. Lunch
15. Ride a skinny
16. Do a ride to practice your new skills

- Mountain Bike in good working condition.
- The following equipment is recommended:
- Seat post dropper,
- Front Fork shock or Full suspension
- Flat Pedals
- Basic ability to ride a mountain bike on dirt on green level trails
