| 6/9/2026 5:15 PM | Tuesday Drop In Climbing at John Shields Park aka Minnehaha Rocks | Climbing | Join Members and their guest after work for an evening of climbing. Meet other climbers, share ropes and routes. No formal climbing instruction, just a chance to climb and meet other climbers. We will climb on the main wall in June. We are looking for some other hosts to help the rest of the summer. We will add more dates if we get hosts. Look for Josh, Tyler, Brian, or our Alternate Hosts. If you are the first to arrive, setup and we will join you. Leave valuables at home or not visible in your car. Bring ropes if you own one. Please select attending the event if you plan on showing up. This way you will get any posts we put out if something changes. If the rock is wet, we will use the time to work on other stuff like rappels or trad gear placements. If nobody shows up by 6, leader may go home. If you are interested in helping out as a co-leader of this, please add you name to this Google Sheet. nights. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16GkcHyXGrz_rDhWtOL-XWNKlxzvPq3MKRa68c5CUD54/edit?usp=sharing Please note: If you are there to lead sport or trad routes, we request you use other routes that we do not have set up. This will give our students from our Mtn School and Rock School more opportunities to meet others, practice anchor setup, and climbing techniques. There are plenty of routes on the wall, so there should be room for everyone. If construction on the parking lot starts and it is closed, look for off street parking on the North side of Upriver Drive East of the park. Do not block any driveways or park in a bike lane. |
| 6/10/2026 5:45 PM | Wed Night Hike - Deep Creek | Hiking | The club's Wednesday Night Hike series are a great way to get to know us. Guests are welcome to come along, take a hike, meet some of our members, and learn more about us. One of my favorite area hikes! Begin at Sontag Park, wind through the woods past the Carlson Lot (Vault Toilet), climb the steep switchbacks to the bluff, take a break at the River Overlook, descend through the foreboding haystacks, photo-op at the Deep Creek Bridge, and complete the circuit along the scenic Centennial Trail. All told - roughly 8 miles w/800' gain. Please pack your Essentials and a snack for the break. As this is a longer WNH, expect to maintain a moderate pace, ~2.5 mph. Well-behaved canines on leash are welcome. 🐕🦺 Meetup in the Sontag Parking Lot. I will start the introductions a little early so we may hit the trail promptly. |
| 6/15/2026 5:00 PM | Huntington Park Cleanup | Conservation | Last year, 40 Mountaineers volunteers pulled 1,400 lbs of trash out of Huntington Park. It was a blast & we're going back for more! Join us and Spokane Riverkeeper on June 15th for an evening of real work at one of the city's best spots. We'll be clearing trash throughout the park, along the river, and into the technical zones around the Spokane Falls and Monroe Street Bridge that most volunteer crews can't reach — that's where our rope skills make the difference. Date: Sunday, June 15 | 5:00–8:00 PM Location: Huntington Park, Spokane Bring: Gloves, harness/helmet (if you have them & want to use them), sunscreen/hat/sun protection. Suggested: long pants and grippy closed-toe shoes. Provided: Garbage bags, pickers, water, and snacks Please register so we can plan headcount. Can't make it right at 5? Come when you can. |

| 6/17/2026 5:45 PM | Wed Night Hike - Bald Knob to Kit Carson | Hiking | The club's Wednesday Night Hike series are a great way to get to know us. Guests are welcome to come along, take a hike, meet some of our members, and learn more about our club's great opportunities. We will meet at Bald Knob Campground which has a pit toilet (campground may not be open yet) and ample parking. This hike is an out and back, approximately 5 miles and about 600 ft of gain with a quick side trip to the CCC cabin. The trail is well maintained with rolling terrain, excellent views along the way as well as from the summit of Mt. Kit Carson where we will stop for a snack. While this is considered an easier trail, I highly recommend it for heavy pack training for those who have not yet hiked at a higher elevation and/or with a loaded pack to practice balance. Bring water, snacks, bug spray, and trekking poles are helpful for hip/knee issues. |
