Location: Glenrose TrailheadTime: Meet at 5:30 to get ready, hike at 5:45. Who: This hike is open to all, and geared towards children. We have toddlers to teenagers and move at a pace that works for everyone. Why: build grit and resilience, social and collaborative skills, love for the outdoors, and critical problem-solving. Expect: snack breaks, bug identification, field wanderings, tree climbing, dirt play, and whatever else engages the kids. We generally make it about .5-1.5 miles into the trail and then turn around. The chosen trails have a single entrance and exit with lots of shade.Bring: lots of water, a variety of snacks, sunscreen, sunhats/sunshirts, bug repellent, sturdy shoes, a first aid kit, patience, and be ready to laugh and make friends! Strollers and carriers are welcome. Fun additions for the heat can include spray bottles, water guns, or similar items.
Cancellation policy: As a general rule, there is no bad weather, only bad clothing. We will only cancel if the air quality reaches Unhealthy (150 AQI+) as our kiddos are considered a sensitive group due to developing lungs. At 100 (Unhealthy for sensitive groups) we encourage you to make a personal decision for your family, though we will be at the trailhead and will modify the hike as needed.
