Lookout Pass & Silver Mountain Ski Patrol NSP Avalanche Level 1 Courses for the 2019/20 season: December Course: Avalanche Level 1 (Module 1, 2, & 3) For Patrollers/Mountaineers (skiers & boarders) Dec 4, 6, 9, 11th- evening classes from 6-9 pm, at Sherriff?s Training Center in Newman Lake, WA December 14, 15th- field portion from 8 am to 4:30 pm, meet at Silver Mtn Resort (Kellogg, ID) in gondola bay for upload at 8 am Course #: p009190010, p009190014, p009190015 Our NSP Avalanche Level 1 Course covers: terrain identification, snowpack dynamics, weather factors, rescue skills, group/human factors, and route planning. Each student must have their own beacon, shovel, probe, and inclinometer; and must bring to each class. There will be no uphill travel during our course, so climbing skins are not required if in the ski/board class. Please bring adequate clothes and food for full days on the mountain during our weekend; extra warm clothes for snow pit time is strongly recommended, and food for lunch in the field both days. All students should be comfortable skiing/riding in intermediate terrain. Cost of lift tickets are included in course fees; course fee made payable by cash or check, collected by instructor on first day of class.
