The two-day clinic is at Riverside State Park in Spokane, WA.
Our goal is to help you enhance your cross country trail riding skills while having fun. Experienced instructors guide you, in a controlled environment, through the techniques necessary to take your riding to the next level. Participants join groups of similarly skilled peers so that new riders as well as those with years of experience benefit from the weekend.
Do you need more confidence on your mountain bike? Are you confused about which gear to be in when? Do you spin out on the climbs or walk around switchbacks? Do you wish you could ride over logs or nail that 10-inch drop? We have something for everyone! We’ll show you how to apply the basics of anticipation, braking, shifting, and body position to trail situations at an appropriate level for you.
Groups are small with two instructors per group, providing multiple teaching perspectives and individualized instruction. After an initial skill evaluation to place you in an appropriate group, you’ll work on your skills in the morning sessions then apply and practice the techniques during group trail rides in the afternoons. Everything wraps up on Sunday with social time, snacks and a drawing for great biking giveaways—everyone wins something and one lucky person goes home with a new hydration pack!
You must be a current member of the Spokane Mountaineers plus you’ll need a mountain bike in good working order and a helmet to attend. All cars at the clinic need a Washington State Discover Pass.
The registration fee is $40. Registration deadline is June 4, 2012.
Registration is limited to ensure small groups and personalized attention. Register early! The 2011 clinic filled a month before the deadline. To register, complete the application form in the middle of this Kinnickinick or on the web site under schools and clinics.
